Am I eligible to take the GED tests?

You are welcome to take the Practice GED (Pre-GED) test at any time if you are at least 16.
Pre-registration is required; cost is $20 cash.

You are eligible to take the Official GED test only if you are not enrolled in and have not graduated from high school.

You must be a resident of the State of New Hampshire.

If you have passed the Practice GED test, you must pre-register for the next available Official GED testing session ($65 cash).

You must be 18 years of age or older.  If not, please read on.

If you are under 18,

You must receive permission from the NH GED Administrator by submitting the following two documents as instructed:

  1. A letter of request, handwritten by you, stating:
    • Your reason for taking the test.
    • Your date of birth.
    • Your full address.
    • The testing site where you will take your test: — Keene.
  2. An official statement on school letterhead from either the Principal or Guidance Counselor of the last school you attended. That statement must include:
    • The date you withdrew from school.
    • Why it is in your best interest to take the GED test.
Home Schooled?

If you are home-schooled and under 18, you need to submit, in addition to the letter described above, an Official Home-Schooled Information form which must be photocopied on the letterhead of the official school in your district, by personnel of that school.
